Expensive status items like watches, fast cars and collectibles from sci fi and fantasy are normally marketed towards and bought by men and boys. Men are more likely to lose money through bad stock investments and gambling. Governments around the world are mostly male dominated and they spend and mismanage other people's $$$. The truly non gendered expenses (in my limited viewpoint) are eating out, vacations and books.
