It’s a bad move to send impeachment articles to the Senate if spineless Republicans there have declared they will rig it in the defendant’s favour. They will try to convert it into a trial of Hunter Biden, who isn’t even a member of government. The headlines will read ACQUITTED and Trump sycophants will not care a whit that the outcome was already decided by Republicans with no interest in a fair trial.

Let the taint of impeachment hang over the head of Orange Damocles until Mitch McConell allows relevant witnesses (ie Mulvaney and Bolton) to be called.
