SPOILERS ahead — I think TROS was a good Star Wars movie, even if I still prefer Rogue One, the original trilogy and Revenge of the Sith.

My big problem with TROS was the design of the Sith Eternal’s warships — an enlarged classic Imperial class Star Destroyer with a planet killing super laser. Not original in the least. There were ‘proper’ new designs in concept art which weren’t used in the final production. I can understand the need for continuity and nostalgia in The Force Awakens by having a slightly newer model of X-wing in the Resistance and could tolerate new model A-wings in The Last Jedi — but why not have any completely new fighter designs inherited from the fallen New Republic in TROS?
