Why do Trump and other like minded folk think of the stock market as the only worthwhile indicator of a country's wellbeing? What's the point of a climbing line on a chart if ordinary folk are struggling to pay for healthcare and mass unemployment? The stock market is just a place where rich people (or less rich people wanting to play the game) gamble and its performance has no bearing on the average Joe or Jane's living standards.
